A beautiful woman with an ugly past

Nasanin Nuri, amtierende Miss Earth Schweiz 2008 und neues bonprix Top-Model,
setzt sich in ihrer Amtszeit mit Herz und Seele für misshandelte Frauen ein.

( Nasanin Nuri, elected Miss Earth Switzerland 2008 and new Bonprix Top Model dedicates her reign in the fight against violence against women with all heart and soul.)

Nasanin wuchst mit einem gewalttätigen Vater auf, der die Mutter – nachdem sie sich von ihm getrennt hatte – aus gekränktem Stolz ermordete. Heute merkt man der jungen Frau die schreckliche Vergangenheit nicht an. Was bewegt die die 21jährige Bernerin, wasdenkt sie über Mode, das Leben und die Liebe? Wir haben sie gefragt.

(Nasanin grew up with a violent father. After her mother decided to separate from her father, he killed her out of egoistic reasons. Today, one does not notice with the young woman about her terrible past. What moves the 21 year old from Bern, what she thinks about fashion, life and love? We asked her.


bonprix: Was bedeutet dein Vorname Nasanin eigentlich?

What does your name Nasanin actually means?

Nasanin Nuri: Nasanin kommt aus dem persischen und bedeutet: sehr
herzlicher Mensch, die Süße, Zarte. Meine Freunde nennen mich aber schon
immer Nasi. Das mag ich.

Nasanin comes from the Persian language which means: very warm person; the sweet and tender one. My friends call me Nasi however. I like that.

bonprix: Wie groß ist dein Kleiderschrank?

How big is your dress closet?

Nasanin Nuri: Eigentlich ist er mittelgroß. Ich bin nicht so der Altgerümpel-
Typ, der eine Jeans zehn Jahre lang aufhebt. Kleider, die ich nicht mehr mag,
verschenke ich an Freunde oder ich gebe sie in die Altkleidersammlung. Ich
kaufe mir lieber öfter etwas Neues.

Actually it is averagely big. I am not the kind of person who sticks to one jean for ten years. Clothes that I do not like anymore I give them to friends or in the „old clothes collecting“ charities. I prefer to have something new from time to time.

bonprix: Wie viel Paar Schuhe hast du?

How many pair of shoes do you have?


Nasanin Nuri: Ich glaube, so etwas 50

I guess around 50.

bonprix: Und Hosen?

And pants?

Nasanin Nuri: Vermutlich 20. Jeans natürlich, also ohne Leggins und so.

Approximately 20. Jeans of course but without Leggings and the like.

bonprix: Dein Lieblingskleidungsstil?

Your favorite get up style?

Nasanin Nuri: Ich mag es sehr gerne locker, z.B. Jeans und T-Shirt.

I like it very much to be simple but comfortable. For example Jeans and T-Shirt.

bonprix: Wenn du shoppen warst: Gibst du dich die Sachen, die du eingekauft hast,
oft wieder zurück?

When you are shopping, do you often buy and have to return them?

Nasanin Nuri: Eigentlich habe ich nie etwas zurückgebracht, weil ich den
Kauf bereut hätte. Nur bei Schuhen, da bin ich verflucht. Ich bekomme
dauernd gemischte Schuhe an der Kasse, einen Schuh in 38, einen in 39,
oder einen in Wildleder, den andern in Glattleder. So etwas bringe ich dann
natürlich zurück.

Actually, I have never had to return something I bought because I regret it. Only with shoes where I am not so lucky. Sometimes I receive shoes of different sizes like in 38 for the right and 39 for the left or in raw leather and smooth leather. In this case of course I bring them back to the store.

bonprix: Gibt es Kleidungsstücke, die du gar nicht leiden kannst?

Are there clothes that you can not stand the sight of? At all?

Nasanin Nuri: Ich denke nicht. Das Wichtigste ist, dass man sich figurgerecht
anzieht, da kann man eine Menge falsch machen!

I don’t think so. What the most important is that one wears that fits one’s figure and with that one can do a lot mistakes.

bonprix: Sagen es dir deine Freudinnen, wenn dir etwas nicht steht?

Do your friends tell you when something is not fit or looks good for you?

Nasanin Nuri: Natürlich sagen mir meine Freundinnen, wenn mir z.B. die
Farbe nicht passt. Aber ich höre das mehr von meinem Freund: „Willst du
wirklich so rausgehen?“, der ist da manchmal ein bisschen eifersüchtig, wenn
das Röckchen zu kurz ist. Ich mach das aber trotzdem (lacht).

Of course my friends tell me when for example the color combination does not work. But I hear that more often from male friends saying : Are you really going out with that attire ? Some of them are a bit jealous when I wear a very skimpy skirt. I do it anyway (with the skimpy skirt). laughs

bonprix: Dein Lebensmotto?

Your life motto ?

Nasanin Nuri: I will survive!

I will survive.

bonprix: Wofür wirst du dich in deiner Amtszeit als Miss Earth Schweiz engagieren?

For what causes do you want to dedicate your reign?

Nasanin Nuri: Ich möchte etwas für misshandelte Frauen tun. Ich engagiere
mich für die Opferhilfe Bern und die Dachorganisation der Frauenhäuser in der
Schweiz (DAO). Mein Wunsch ist, dass ich die Frauenhäuser unterstützen
kann. Da gibt es einfach zu wenige Plätze. Wenn eine Frau von Ihrem Mann
geschlagen wird und anruft, heißt es manchmal: Halten Sie es noch eine
Woche aus, dann ist vielleicht etwas frei. Das möchte ich ändern.

I want to do something in helping abused women. I dedicate myself for the Victims Help Bern and the Umbrella Organization of House for Abused Women. My wish is that I can support more these houses. Because there are just too few places available. When for example a woman was beaten up by her husband and calls for help; sometimes it can be like „Hang on there for just one week more and perhaps there will be place free“ I want to change that. Women in these sitaution can not simply wait and be beaten up.

bonprix: Wer ist Schuld an der Gewalt?

Who is to blame with these violence?

Nasanin Nuri: Zu einem Streit gehören meistens zwei. Das heißt, man muss
achtgeben, inwieweit man den anderen provoziert. Man muss aber auch an
der Beziehung arbeiten. Oft ist die Beziehung schon kaputt, bevor der Mann
zuschlägt, nicht erst danach.

In an argument both have responsibilities. That is, one must listen in the same extent he/she provokes an argument. One must of course work as well for the betterment of the relationship. Oftentimes the relationship is already over before the violence starts and not after.

bonprix: Warum glauben Sie schlägt ein Mann seine Frau?

Why do you believe that a man is capable of beating up his wife?

Nasanin Nuri: Es gibt viele verschiedene Gründe. Aber vor allem ist es
Schwäche.

There are many varying reasons. But above all it is weakness.
